Calibre Audio

A bespoke library management system for a national charity serving blind and partially sighted people

Calibre's previous library management system forced staff at Calibre to work around its limitations — data ended up in the wrong fields, workflows didn't match how the charity actually operated. The original system was built for a bricks and mortar library, and it showed.

I built Catmin from scratch around how Calibre works day to day. This meant spending time with each department to understand their workflows and needs, and then designing a system that fit those needs. The result is a bespoke library management system that has transformed how Calibre operates.

The system has allowed Calibre to gain a deeper understanding of their data, and has enabled them to make better decisions based on that data. It has also freed up staff time, allowing them to focus on their core mission of serving blind and partially sighted people.
