The Plankton Project

The Plankton Project is a citizen science project researching near shore plankton and doing science communication to promote the importance of plankton in marine ecosystems.

They needed a friendly, approachable brand that would appeal to a wide range of people, from school children to scientists and I also wanted to create something that reflected the personality of the person behind the project.

After discussing the project and its goals with the client, I designed a logo that incorporates two simple, stylised plankton characters that also represent the two 'P's in Plankton Project. The characters are designed to be friendly and approachable, with round bodies and big eyes. The colour palette harks back to the eighties which was a favourite time for the client, and is bright and cheerful, with a mix of teal, blue, pink and yellow.
