The Plankton Project Website

The Plankton Project CIC

Design and building the website for this citizen science project in North Norfolk.

The Plankton Project is a Community Interest Company researching the diversity of near-shore plankton along the North Norfolk coast — and sharing what they find with as wide an audience as possible.

Following the branding work, I was tasked with designing and building their website in Next.js. In order to give the website some more personality, I decided to make the logo interactive: it responds to hover on desktop and touch on mobile, giving the site a bit of life without being gratuitous. I chose Sanity to handle content management with live preview enabled, this means the team can edit and see changes in real time before the updates are published. For a small research CIC, it was important that the website be easy to maintain and update without requiring technical expertise.
